Living La Vida Más Chévere: Creativity, Culture and Choosing Your Own Path Paulette Erato | Ep 5
Listen on / APPLE PODCASTS / SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE
What if success didn’t mean checking off someone else’s boxes? In this episode, we explore what it means to design a life that’s joyful, intentional, and completely your own. In this episode of Creative Made, I sat down with Paulette Erato—podcaster, author, and founder of the Latinas in Podcasting Summit—while we were both in Chicago for Podcast Movement. Paulette shares her journey as a child-free Latina, the cultural expectations she’s unlearning, and how she’s building a community rooted in support instead of gatekeeping. We talked about redefining success, the beauty of being a creative problem-solver, and why sometimes, just showing up and pressing record is the biggest win of all.

What does it really mean to live your best life — especially as a creative Latina navigating dual cultures, expectations, and new possibilities?
In this episode of Creative Made Podcast, host Yesenia Bocanegra sits down with Paulette Erato — founder of Latinas in Podcasting and host of La Vida Más Chévere: The Child-Free Latina Podcast — to explore exactly that.
Whether you’re a content creator, podcaster, or redefining what success looks like for you, this conversation is an empowering look at how culture, community, and creativity come together to help us design lives we actually love.
Meet Paulette Erato: Podcaster, Founder, and Creative Trailblazer
Paulette Erato is a first-generation Mexican-Puerto Rican-American, proud child-free Latina, and creative powerhouse behind the podcast La Vida Más Chévere. As the founder of the Latinas in Podcasting Summit, Paulette has created space for women across the globe to share their stories, learn new skills, and launch powerful podcasts — all while breaking down barriers of access.
Her motto?
“Benchmarks are BS — you define what success means.”
1. Redefining Latina Success Beyond Cultural Expectations
Paulette shares how growing up as the eldest daughter of immigrant parents shaped her journey — and how she had to unlearn toxic narratives about marriage, motherhood, and achievement. She reminds us that:
“You can build a beautiful, fulfilling life without checking every box they gave you.”
2. The Power of Being Child-Free by Choice
In a world where motherhood is often expected — especially in Latinx cultures — Paulette’s podcast centers stories of women who are child-free by choice and thriving. It’s not about being anti-family, she says, but about choosing your own path unapologetically.
3. Community as a Circle, Not a Competition
The Latinas in Podcasting Summit was born out of a need for connection and inclusion. Paulette explains how she used her background in event planning to build a free, virtual summit where knowledge is shared, not gatekept — and how community has become the heart of everything.
